Shopping

The concentration of top international designer names and stores combined with quality artisan hand made goods and products has made Mallorca an ideal location for shopping. The island also offers a wide range of luxury items and traditional goods made locally. Although these products are exported worldwide, visits can be made to the islands’ factories and workshop where visitors will find a greater selection of goods at less than retail prices.

Mallorca is well known for its locally crafted pearl jewellery. Shoe production is also an important industry on the island and is mainly based in Inca, Selva and Llucmajor. This industry produces modern designs and well-known brand names which are sold worldwide. Other typical products of island include leather-wear and cotton tablewear, embroidery and textiles featuring traditional Mallorca designs.

There are three Mallorcan glass factories, each specialising in different qualities of glass, design and colour. The factories are open to the public who can enjoy watching glass being made by traditional methods. Finally, local ceramics can be found throughout the island. One of the most emblematic traditional pottery souvenirs is the “siurell”: a figure made of white terracotta decorated with primary colours.
