The Fomento del Turismo’s Hiking Group has a longstanding tradition within the organisation and is the oldest hiking group of its kind in Spain. Every Thursday and Sunday, the group organises hiking excursions. These hikes are a way to discover the island safely accompanied by experienced guides, that have a deep respect for nature.
Guided Trips to Enjoy Mallorca
Participating in the Fomento’s Hiking Group is a comfortable and accessible way to discover the island. Every outing is organised in a way that allows participants to focus on walking, learning and enjoying the countryside in good company.
Guided Routes with Experience
Excursions are scheduled every Thursday and Sunday. Taking in different areas of Mallorca, particularly in the Sierra de Tramuntana and the Sierra de Levante. Our guides know these mountains well and share, with those interested, information about the landscape, flora, fauna and history on each excursion.
Comfort, Security and Comradeship
In order to facilitate participation, a bus is organized from Palma to the excursion starting point. This avoids private transfers and problems with parking. Moreover, The Fomento manages the federation of the group alongside the Balearic Mountaneering and Climbing Federation so that in the event of accident or rescue, hikers have insurance cover.
Nature, Learning and Comradeship
The Hiking Group is much more than just a hiking activity. It is a way to get to know Mallorca from within, sharing a journey with other people and keeping alive a hiking tradition that blends landscape, culture and love for the island.
A Tradition with History
As the oldest hiking group of its kind in Spain, it has a historic legacy within the Fomento del Turismo de Mallorca. Generation after generation, it has brought Mallorcans and non-Mallorcans closer in a respectful manner, allowing them to discover the territory together.
An Open Group with an Eye to the future
The group welcomes all ages, nationalities and physical conditions. On most outings there is a break for a snack or even a meal prepared by the guides and hikers.
How to Participate
These hikes are open to everyone. It is possible to reserve a place for a specific outing or for various excursions listed on the calendar, subject to availability.

Prices and Conditions
The price for each hike is 15€ for Fomento members and 20€ for non-members.
Non-federated hikers in the Balearic Mountaineering and Climbing Federation must also pay 5€ per day, corresponding to the daily insurance cover booked by Fomento.
