Accommodation

Mallorca´s beauty and spectacular landscape was first discovered during the middle of the last century with the arrival of the“ecentrics” and European academics: Archduke Louis Salvador of Austria; Chopin and George Sands; Ruben Dario; D.H. Lawrence; Robert Graves; Joan Miró and a large number of famous (and not so famous) artists came to know the island and many lived and died here.

In 1950 the total number of visitors to Mallorca was only 98,000, whereas in 1975 a figure of almost 3,000,000 tourists was reached. At present, visitor figures and the island´s fame has spiralled and over 9,000,000 tourists visit annually.

Mallorca offers a wide range of accommodation including comfortable, modern hotels of different categories and prices, guest houses, apartment-hotels, holiday clubs, apartments and even accommodation in monasteries. More recently, the old houses of the island´s inland towns and villages have been restored to offer tourist accommodation in over 100 renovated rural properties, set in the midst of Mallorca’s splendid, peaceful countryside.

In total there are some 300,000 beds available and the majority of hotels and apartments are located close to one of the island’s many beaches and have been designed with the tourists´ enjoyment in mind.
