| October 15, 2013

Exterior 2The new five star Boutique Hotel Calatrava will open its doors in April 2013 in the most historic and sought after area of Palma beside the city’s old seawalls with magnificent views across the sea, the Bay of Palma and the city.

This is the second hotel to be opened by husband and wife team Miguel Conde Moragues and his architect wife, Cristina Marti Crespi, following the successful opening of Hotel Can Cera (www.cancerahotel.com) 18 months ago in a 17th century “palacio” located 5 minutes walk away from the new Boutique Hotel Calatrava.

The building, which dates back to the 19th century, will offer a total of 16 rooms with six large deluxe suites (40m2) with their own private terrace and four Junior Suites with views over the old town and the Parc del Mar.

The style of the rooms will be light and spacious combining contemporary style into the existing charm of the original building with the focus on comfort and the enjoyment of the fabulous views.

Facilities will include a spectacular breakfast room/bar terrace on the top floor and a café/bistro on the hotel’s main living floor known as the “planta noble”. Guests will also be able to enjoy the hotel’s spa with Finnish sauna, Jacuzzi, treatment rooms, an exercise area for private yoga classes, shower room and relaxation area.

The public areas of the hotel will include a drawing room with comfortable sofas and tables, an internet area for client and a 90m 2 sun terrace with panoramic views over Palma Bay towards the local Portixol harbour nearby. In front of the hotel an outside terrace with sea views will be created serving hotel clients as well as the public for light refreshments and snacks.

The hotel’s location is a few minutes’ walk away from Palma Cathedral and the King’s official residence; The Almudaina Palace, in an important historic area which was originally constructed between the 13th and 14th century taking its name from the Order of Calatrava following the Christian conquest of Mallorca.

Says the hotel’s owner; Miguel Conde Moragues;

“We have no doubt that there is a growing demand for boutique style hotels in Palma offering a personal and highly individual experience whereby the clients feel they can relax in the “home from home” surroundings. These factors, combined with the year round appeal of Palma’s infrastructure, make Boutique Hotel Calatrava an ideal base for a short or long break holiday escape”.
